English Curriculum
The Tolerance School English Curriculum encourages a lifelong appreciation for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. It aims to develop students’ communication skills for learning, self-expression, and meaningful interaction in real-life contexts. Learners are taught to value language as a powerful tool for understanding the world, expressing ideas, and building relationships.
This curriculum aligns with the Department of Education’s K to 12 standards and is designed for learners who are developing English proficiency as part of their foundational education.
What will students learn?
Learners will develop fundamental skills and understanding in four key areas: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening.
Through a wide range of learning experiences, they will learn to:
Communicate confidently by applying English in both academic and daily conversations.
Read with understanding, exploring literary and informational texts from diverse cultures, themes, and time periods.
Write clearly and creatively, expressing thoughts, opinions, and emotions with proper grammar and structure.
Listen with purpose, interpreting information accurately and responding thoughtfully.
These skills equip learners to become effective communicators and critical thinkers prepared for higher learning.
